Pace Product Overview

Pace Extends the value of Oracle’s Hyperion Platform.

With Pace you can extend the Hyperion platform across a broader range of planning processes.

Palladium partnered closely with Oracle’s Hyperion to develop Pace: the premier extension that "lives" inside your Hyperion Platform. Pace centralizes the complexity of your myriad unique processes by leveraging the power of your existing investment.

Pace distributes simplicity throughout the planning organization by allowing users the same "spreadsheet flexibility" they need for their unique processes.

Pace Architecture
Pace leverages a three-tier application environment. Hyperion Essbase is deployed for data tier tasks such as storage, metadata management, hierarchy consolidations, allocations and approval routines. Pace tightly integrates with Hyperion Planning and when combined with Hyperion’s rich reporting, data visualization and analytics capabilities delivers a comprehensive Planning & Analytical solution.

The Pace application tier then extracts the portion of the data from the Essbase database as a "unit of work“ needed for the particular planning task at hand. The unit of work contains the specific information on products, customers, regions, periods, etc. that each user needs to do their job.

Within the Pace evaluation engine, the user is able to model their business and run multiple what-if scenarios, all without committing that information to the database. When they have created a plan that's ready to share, it can be quickly and seamlessly pushed back into the planning database. Pace allows a planner to do complex, iterative modeling in a "sandbox" area without changing the database.

Microsoft Excel is used as Pace's User Interface. No data is stored in Excel and no formulas occur in Excel. Excel is used to render views of the underlying data to the user. Embedded within the Excel interface are configurable workflows and customizable menus that map the user's role and areas of responsibility. Users are able to work within a familiar Excel interface without creating rogue spreadsheets or disconnected planning processes.
